E-Ink Corporation is the pilotof developing electronic ink and “paper” which will replace ink and paper of newspapers and books we know today.
The use of electronic ink and two-way wireless communication could lead to the creation of electronic books (when the current book were read, readers can choose new book to refresh), or produce the latest newspapers which have news being read and used with self-renewal①.
Electronic ink is a transparent liquid plastic, in which there are micro-packaging blockhaving small white tablets in blue dye.Micro Packaging block suspended in the material like edible② oil, as in. The small white tablets are with negative charge, so they can respond to electrical stimulation③.
This ink can be coated in any surface, from the wall to the computer screen. However, the writing surface seems to be very thin portable machine screen,on the front of which there is a transparent surface, and in the back of which is a line.
The positive charge the ink on the top surface will show white, making the surface as white as a piece of paper. If MMHis at bottom, black particles will become apparent, showingblue ink marks.
Electronic ink consumes much less power than PalmPilot handheld computer or even still in power is out it can display the information.
The ultimategoal is to look and feel that it is like paper from the electronic page.But in the foreseeable future, these new books are likely larger than truepaper.
Electronic ink is interactive, and it’s mainly used to receive information.
A portablereading material is composed of silica compounds with the thickness and softness of an advertising license. There are thousands of plastic balls suspending in the oil on Gyricon chip.One of each side of the ball is black; the other is white, both of them playing the common role─displaying graphical pixel④.Graphics supervisor can show the same method as for updates.
The ball was embedded in the great chips, each micro-block package suspendingin the oil, allowing the ball rotate in their own orbit. This paper can be powered by the transistor arrays, such as portable screen. Gyriconchip is as real as the real paper reflecting light, so that it use less electricity; it canlink with wireless devices, le readers download from the Internet. Gyricon will also have interactive features, so that users can write and reuse it.
