意大利美食
意大利人饮食特点：味浓香烂，以原汁原味闻名，烹调上以炒、煎、炸、红焖等方法着称，并喜用面条、 米饭作菜，而不作为主食用。意大利人吃饭的习惯一般在六七成熟就吃，这是其他国家所没有的。口味爱好：喜吃烤羊腿、牛排等口味醇浓的菜。各种面条、炒饭、馄饨、饺子、面疙瘩也爱吃。意大利的美食如同它的文化：高贵、典雅、味道独特。精美可口的面食、奶酪、火腿和葡萄酒成为世界各国美食家向往的天堂。
意大利美食集各家之长于一堂，一般而言，北意大利菜与法国菜相近，多用乳酪、鲜奶。南意大利则大多用番茄、橄榄油。加尔达湖是番茄栽培的北限，波河流域的帕达纳平原，则是意大利数一数二的肉牛、乳牛产地。因为临近法国、瑞士、奥地利、南斯拉夫等国，意大利菜多少受这些国家的影响。北意大利的美食Culash（牛肉熬煮）就深受南斯拉夫影响。而苹果派Strudel则有德国、奥地利的风味，南西西里岛的Cuscusu则属阿拉伯同味。了解意大利菜进而可了解意大利的风土、文化、历史背景。
传统的意大利式正餐一般会有四至五道菜式：头盘：意大利文称Antipasto，是"用餐之前"的意思。第一道菜主要是指汤（Zuppe）、意粉或烩饭（Risotto），意大利文是Primo Pratto。由于之后仍有主菜，所以分量会较少。意大利面食饮誉全球，所以您可千万不要错过这道可口的面点。
第二道菜即主菜：是整个正餐的灵魂，主要是海鲜或肉类菜式。不少主菜菜式都是以烧烤或油炸方式烹调，享用时随意加点桌上的盐或橄榄油便可食用。西餐非常注重甜品，而意式甜品极为出色。意大利文中甜品Dlolce本身就是“甜”的意思。通常是在享用主菜后才点选的。
钟情咖啡闲话
意大利人都嗜好咖啡。钟情于那有泡沫的浓厚的咖啡的他们，也很喜欢有各种各样的变化。想喝比平时更浓的咖啡时有Caffe ristretto、清一点的有Caffe lungo(还有alto)。美式咖啡有Caffe americano。饭后咖啡也常喝加利久酒的Caffe americano。浓浓的咖啡和丰富的利久酒的香味可以暖胃。寒冷的时候这实在是能让人精神焕发的佳品。咖啡Caffe和牛奶Latte的相互调和也是无与伦比的。首先让我们记住machiato这个词。Caffe late和latte macchiato的区别就在于咖啡量的多少，不知为何一般把Latte Machiato倒入杯中带出去的比较多。
意大利冰激凌
冰激凌是意大利人的发明，并在16世纪由西西里岛的一位教士改良，完善了它的制作技术。意大利冰激凌（Gelato）的制作传统也一代一代地传下来。直到今天，西西里岛的冰激凌仍被认为是意大利最好的冰激凌。到过意大利的人们，品尝到意大利冰激凌文化，无不为其可口的味道以及精致的外形所惊叹。

(During the lunch time， Jack and Joan eat at a restaurant nearby their company. Now they are chatting about the friendship. )
Jack ： What kind of qualities do you look for in your friends？
Joan ： I like to make friends with people who are open and friendly. These people are usually active and fun to be with.
Jack ： Sure. But sometimes those who are not open and active can make very good friends.
Joan ： Of course. So that's why a person always has different kinds of friends in his life.
Jack ： Yes. I like to make friends with those who I can get along well with.
Joan ： Sure！ Who will make friends with those he cannot get on well？
Jack ： Oh， don't get me wrong. I'm just saying that maybe you don't have much in common， but you feel very comfortable when you are with each other. That's a great feeling.
Joan ： I agree. But generally， I prefer to make friends with those who share similar interests with me. We can do a lot of things together and it's great fun. I love spending time with my friends.
Jack ： That certainly is good. But I think the more important thing about friendship is that you can share happiness and sorrows； you can always help each other when in trouble； you can cheer each other up when disheartened.
Joan ： Yes， that is true. So I think being a good friend means you have to be supportive， willing to help， honest，trustworthy and a good listener. These qualities are important in maintaining good friendships.
Jack ： Absolutely. Everyone needs friends. Friendship plays an important role in our life.
Joan ： I completely agree with you.
