1835年8月30日，两个协会达成一个共同分享的和平协议，但是菲利普港口协会与原著民以前达成的交易被取消，当然，新南威尔士州政府给予菲利普港口协会适当补偿。
到目前为止，定居者可以任意选择地方定居，政府只好接受来自英国的新定居者，并准许他们建立新的城市。
墨尔本于1835年正式建城。1840年全城人口有1万人，最早的城市移民来自于英国向澳大利亚输送的囚徒。
1850年，殖民者在墨尔本周边发现金矿，来自世界各地的大批人口纷纷移民至墨城，其中包括英国、德国、意大利、荷兰、中国等，墨尔本所以得名新金山。
至1854年，墨尔本的人口已经达到123，000人，超过旧金山的淘金人数，成为名副其实的金山市。1850年代，英国设立维多利亚殖民区期间，把墨尔本定为殖民区的府城。
1901年，澳大利亚联邦成立时，墨尔本已是全国的金融与文化中心，殖民区议会的议场也设在这里。
然而，当时新南威尔士州的首府悉尼，人口和工商业都高于墨尔本。悉尼和墨尔本开始力争联邦首都的地位，并陷入僵局。
为了平衡双城之争，最后澳大利亚人在1908年决议将首都设在相当于双城之间的堪培拉。1927年，澳大利亚的国会才真正从墨尔本迁往堪培拉，结束了澳大利亚这起长达25年的首都之争。

This is a carnival of Melbourne resident， held in March each year.

Melbourne Art Festival

Melbourne Racing Festival
It is one of the world’s most famous Marseilles. It is the only festival for Australian to make the whole thing up and down together to stop working. During the race， ladies with colorful hats on their heads become a unique landscape out of racetrack.
Melbourne Chinese New Year
When Chinese New Year comes， the Melbourne government will hold Chinese folk performances and Chinese cuisine promotional activities in Chinatown. The Chinese New Year has become the day all the Melbourne nationalities celebrate.

Symbol of Australia 澳大利亚的象征
Sydney Opera House is a symbol of Australia. It looks like a white wind sailing in the sea， side by side with the surrounding scenery. It spreads out like petals floating in the air. People have been amazed for years.
Opera House roof is white， paved by more than 1 million tablets of the Swedish ceramic tile. After special treatment， it never fears the invasion of the sea breeze. Below roof are two venues： the Concert Hall and Opera House.
The Concert Hall is the largest hall， which can accommodate 2，679 spectators， often used to hold a symphony， chamber music， opera， dancing， singing， pop， jazz and other performances. The large pipe organ in front of the Australian was designed and built by Ronald Sharp， known as the world’s largest mechanical organ wooden rod， from 10，500 tubes.
The opera has 1，547 seats， mainly used for opera， ballet and dance performances. It also has a small theater hall and theater， respectively， 544 and 398 to accommodate the audience， usually used for drama， dance， lectures and conferences.
Sydney Opera House is one of the largest performing arts center in the world. Performances are held here each year about 3，000 games， and 2 million viewers.
