Reading Chinese Philosophy at SixOne day afternoon in early 2007, by appointment, I entered an elegantoffice in the Beijing International Club. Amid its pleasant atmosphere,I interviewed Dr. Dana Schuppert on many topics, from her favoriteplaces (Yunnan and Sichuan); to Lao Zi (Lao Tzu, circa 600-50BC), Confucius and Sun Zi (Sun Tzu); from “reading thousands ofbooks” to “traveling thousands of miles”; from her love for Chineseclassical poetry to her view of life. She is notonly an investor, banker and strategist, but also a talented woman withthe romance of the French, the precision of the German and the toleranceof the Chinese. When talking about herfamily background, Dana said proudly, “I am very lucky because Iam probably the most perfect ‘combination’ in the world.
