The Florence Nightingale Pledge
Guidance for Reciting
On May 12 each year，nurses celebrate their own festival ― International Nurse Day. This passage is specially chosen to show our respect for those“Angels in White”，who accompany first when we were born.
Isolemnly pledge myself before God and in presence of this assembly to pass my life in purity and to practice my profession faithfully. I will abstain from whatever is deleterious and mischievous and will not take or knowingly administer any harmful drug. I will do all in my power to maintain and elevate the standard of my profession and will hold in confidence all personal matters committed to my keeping and family affairs coming to my knowledge in the practice of my calling. With loyalty will I endeavor to aid the physician in his work，and devote myself to the welfare of those committed to my care.

每年的五月十二日护士们都庆祝他们自己的节日――国际护士节，谨以此文献给那些陪伴我们出生的“白衣天使”。
余谨以至诚
于上帝及会众面前宣誓，
终身纯洁，忠贞职守，
勿为有损之事，
勿取服或故用有害之药，
尽力保持和提高护理专业标准，
慎守病人及家务之秘密，
竭诚协助医师之诊治，
务谋病者之福利。
注：南丁格尔女士简介
弗罗伦斯？南丁格尔（Florence Nightingale 1820-1910），英国女护士，欧美近代护理学和护士教育创始人之一。1820年5月12日出生于意大利佛罗伦萨。1907年，英国政府授予南丁格尔最高荣誉勋章，这是首次将该勋章授予女性。1910年的一个晚上，南丁格尔这位90岁的疲惫老人，在睡梦中安然长逝。为了永远纪念她，国际护士协会和国际红十字会，把她的诞生日定为国际护士节，并决定以南丁格尔的名字命名最高护士名誉奖，即南丁格尔奖。
