The University，s accommodation options include six historic oncampus colleges， each with its own distinctive atmosphere， and a wide range of oncampus and offcampus residences offering choices to suit everyone. Initial accommodation for new international students is arranged through the International Students Services Unit， and the University，s main accommodation service caters for longterm needs. The great majority of students， however， rent privately in the surrounding suburbs. The main campus of the University is situated between the lively and colourful suburbs of Glebe and Newtown where the student lifestyle is supported by excellent and inexpensive restaurants， cafes and shops.
Scholarship Availability
Undergraduate Merit Scholarships： These scholarships are offered by the University， and begin in the second year of study. All current students are automatically considered by participating Faculties of the University. Currently， all scholarships are for a one year duration and some of these scholarships are offered to cover full tuition fees， and others cover half of the tuitiontuition n.学费 fees for that particular academic year. There is no living allowance provided under this scholarship.
Malaysia Alumni and Hong Kong Alumni Scholarships： These scholarships are awarded to Malaysian and Hong Kong students undertaking undergraduate degrees at the University of Sydney. Applications forms are usually available in October each year. Information/advertisements about these scholarships are placed each year in the local media.
Overseas Postgraduate Research Scholarships (OPRS)： awarded on the basis of academic merit and research capacity to suitably qualified overseas graduates who are eligibleeligible adj.符合条件的， 合格的 to commence a higher degree by research. The OPRS is a tuition fees only scholarship which is funded by the Australian Government. In conjunction with the OPRS the University of Sydney funds a stipend (living expenses) scholarship called the International Postgraduate Award (IPA) to top ranked OPRS candidated each year. The IPA is awarded on merit and does not require a separate application.
