The University of Tulsa (TU) is a private university located in Tulsa， Oklahoma， USA. The university is historically affiliated with the Presbyterian Church.The Presbyterian School for Girls was founded in Muskogee， Indian Territory to offer a primary education to Creek girls. In 1894， it was expanded to become Henry Kendall College， named in honor of Reverend Henry Kendall， secretary of the Presbyterian Board of Home Missions.In 1918， the Methodist Church proposed building a college in Tulsa， using money donated by Tulsa oilman Robert M. McFarlin. The proposed college was to be named McFarlin College. In 1920， Henry Kendall College merged with the proposed McFarlin College to become The University of Tulsa.With a low student-to-faculty ratio， the University of Tulsa offers personalized attention and close interaction with faculty. Many junior- and senior-level classes have as few as 10 students. Any student， regardless of major， can get involved in research projects as early as freshman year. Typically， students know the names of everyone in their classes， and so do the professors.Research is part of the core of teaching and learning at the University of Tulsa. Studies emphasize finding practical and evidence-based solutions to real-life problems.

The University of Tulsa is noted for having one of the world"s premier programs in petroleum engineering， and distinguished programs in English， computer science， natural sciences， Clinical and Industrial/Organizational Psychology， and several engineering disciplines. The university also maintains a school of law， which is one of the few to specialize in Native American legal issues.
City show：The city held the nickname"Oil Capital of the World" and played a major role as one of the most important hubs for the American oil industry. Once heavily dependent on the oil industry， economic downturn and subsequent diversification efforts created an economic base in the energy， finance， aviation， telecommunications and technology sectors. Tulsa is situated near the heart of Tornado Alley and has a temperate climate of the humid subtropical variety with a yearly average temperature of 16 °C.
