In my south study I lie abed at much ease
And through the open curtain watch the moon just rise.
Its clear light glitters in waters and among trees
And ripples on the windows and doors in like wise.
Endless time passes by as it waxes and wanes；
The past’s changed to the present， but chaste it remains.
My dear friend on the Qing Jiang riverside to-night
Must be chanting his native songs with all his might.
How to be with him a thousand li far away？
Through the breeze， fragrant plants can be smelt all the way.
