贾生
李商隐
宣室求贤访逐臣,贾生才调更无伦。
可怜夜半虚前席,不问苍生问鬼神。
Jia Yi, the Scholar
Li Shangyin
To seek the virtuous, was granted an interview,
In the front grand hall, to the official banished,
Our Master Jia himself, graceful and steel-true,
A wise man incomparable and untarnished.
It’s a pity: the Emperor moved forth to a place
In order to be the nearer to his subject,
Asking ’bout things not concerning the populace
But those relating to gods and genies direct.
