One day， Zeus noticed the beautiful maiden Io and fell in love with her. He ran after her and won her. Hera became so envious that she flew down from Olympus to pay her rival back.

In a vain attempt to hide his crimes， Zeus turned himself into a white cloud and transformed Io into a beautiful white heifer. Hera was not fooled. 21. The Sirens
The Sirens are the daughters of the river god Achelous. They are half-woman， half-bird-like creatures， portrayed as femme fatales who lured nearby sailors with their enchanting music and voices to shipwreck on the rocky coast of their island. No sailor nor ship had ever been known to pass the Island of the Sirens without being attracted todisaster， but Odysseus is an exception.
