Founded in 1843, Glenmorangie has been pursuing perfection - under the stewardship of two families and now Louis Vuitton Moet-Hennessy - for over 160 years.

Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban, Glenmorangie Lasanta and Glenmorangie Nectar DOr will be first matured in American white oak casks for ten years before being extra matured in a hand-selected cask. During maturation roughly 2% of the whisky in each barrel will evaporate every year. This is called “angels share”, which equates to around 120 million bottles “lost” to the ether by Scotlands producers.

George Ballantine was born in Broughtonknowe, Peebleshire, son of a farmer. He was poor, often hungry, but he had what he needed - a good education.

When he was 13, he moved to Edinvurgh. He got an apprenticeship in the old town. It gave him a trade, a place to live and ambition.

With an exemplary apprenticeship report under his belt, he was ready to make his mark in business. At 18 he rented a small grocery. His shop did well, very well. He moved to bigger premises, specialized in whisky and hand-selected malts, which made a name for himself.

In honour of his eldest son Archibald, he opened his first “George Ballantine&;Son” store in Edinburgh and a second in Glasgow in 1867.

Ballantines “Definitive” 17 year old and “Legendary” 30 year old whiskies redefined the whisky market in 1930.

Ballantines introduced Ballantines 12 year old in 1960, the cocktail whisky that goes beyond the whisky straight.

In 2006, Sandy Hyslop became only the 5th master blender in Ballantines 180 year history, a chip off the old block.
