The University of Zürich (shortly called as UZH), located in the city of Zürich, is the largest university in Switzerland. It was founded in 1833 in Switzerland. It is the Switzerland"s largest comprehensive university. And it is the first University that be founded by European democratic country. That is to say: It was the first university in Europe to be founded by the state rather than a monarch or church. The university allowed women to attend philosophy lectures from 1847, and the Russian Nadeshda Suslowa admitted the first female doctoral student in 1866.The school has good teachers and has really produced a lot of talents. There were 13 individuals who received the Nobel such as Wilhelm Conrad R.ntgen (the first winner of the Nobel Prize for Physics), Albert Einstein, etc. About 21 Nobel laureates studied, taught or conducted research at the University, thus contributing to its fame and popularity. The university"s research strategy mainly focuses on human health issues. As a member of the “League of European Research Universities (LERU)”, the University of Zürich belongs to Europe"s most prestigious research institutions.

System: There are seven faculties: Faculty of Theology, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Veteri-nary Medicine, Department of Arts, and Faculty of Science. Made up of seven faculties covering some 100 different subject areas, numerous dis-tinctions highlight the University’s international renown in the fields of medicine, immunology, genetics, neuroscience and structural biology as well as in economics.

City show: Zürich is the largest city in Switzerland and the capital of the canton of Zürich. It is also a leading global city and among the world’s largest financial centres. The city is home to a large number of financial institutions and banking giants.
