The University of Barcelona（Spanish： Universitat de Barcelona) is a public university located in the city of Barcelona， Catalonia in Spain. The University was founded under the royal prerogative granted by King Alfonso V of Aragon， in Naples， on 3 November 1450. 1714 With the capture of Barcelona by the French in the War of Spanish Succession， all studies are moved to Cervera. In 1717， a royal order established a single university at Cervera， and all university studies in Barcelona， Lleida， Girona， Tarragona， Vic and Tortosa closed and were moved there. In 1822， the University of Barcelona began to take shape again. In 1837， the University of Barcelona was provisionally restored. In 1842 the University was permanently restored to the city of Barcelona. Today， the UB is the principal centre of university research in Spain and has become a European benchmark for research activity， both in terms of the number of research programmes it conducts and the excellence these have achieved.

巴塞罗那大学下辖语言系、数学系、地理及历史系、医学系、图书馆及档案管理系、牙科系、法学系、经济科学系、美术系、生物系、药物系、物理系、化学系、地理与历史学系、哲学系、心理学系、教师进修系等。巴塞罗那大学本科生专业的学制除医学专业为6年外，其他专业的学制均为5年。硕士学位专业的学制为1~2年。全部为加泰罗尼亚语授课。
巴塞罗那大学老校区周围有很多小的服装品牌店、美容店、酒吧等。巴塞罗那市内有世界著名建筑师高迪及米罗的众多现代，后现代主义建筑。学校附近著名建筑有加泰罗尼亚音乐厅，巴塞罗那大教堂等。加泰罗尼亚北部比利牛斯山有二十多个滑雪场和众多高尔夫球场以及古罗马时期朝圣道路上的宗教建筑。
