最近我陪老伴去医院看病，出租车（州政府付费）把我们送到一个地方，说就是这里。我们要去的地方是Miner Ave 515号。下车的地方是525和505之间。我找了半天也没有找到515号，而且也不像医院，倒像是居民住宅。这时出租车早已开走。我看到一个老美在汽车上，就去问他。他看了我的地址，说这里是Miner Ave N，而不是Miner Ave。那里离这里还很远，得打出租车过去。我正在着急，他却主动提出可以开车送我们过去。我们搭上他的汽车，顺着Miner Ave路，从几千号一直找到515号，把我们送到医院。我们素不相识，他如此热情帮忙，我们深受感动，千恩万谢。
在国内问路碰到的好人真不少，但像这些美国人那样热心为你帮忙的，却从未见过。由此，我不禁感叹中美两国人民的文化素质和道德风尚，确实存在很大差异。在美国和其它发达国家，人们把帮助别人看成是应该的（我的邻居美国老太太，每周四次义务开车带我们去游泳馆，至今已有半年）。尽管是素昧平生的陌生人，他们也会热情相助。这是一种多么高尚和谐的人际关系啊。联想到对残疾人和老人、儿童等弱势群体的关怀，不能不令人感叹。难怪******率团来美演出，那些丑化残疾人的节目，在中国能得到掌声，在美国却遭到炮轰。但愿国人不要再拿别人的痛苦来取悦。更不要再信奉“与人斗，其乐无穷”。让中国人在世界上能昂首挺胸，有尊严的活着，而不是低人一等。

西方强调自我表现(self-expression)和个人主义(individualism)，当运动员败阵后他们会选择冷静地走开。而西方的视障运动员和东方的运动员则不然，他们失败之后多会低头垂肩独自一个人伤感地坐着。研究人员认为羞耻心是人们天生具有的一种情绪，而西方的意识形态(ideology)会迫使人们隐藏自己处在难堪环境里的心情。
