美甲起源与发展
美甲是一种对指（趾）甲进行装饰美化的工作，又称甲艺设计。美甲是根据客人的手形、甲形、肤质、服装的色彩和要求，对指（趾）甲进行消毒、清洁、护理、保养、修饰美化的过程。具有表现形式多样化的特点。
古埃及人就率先用臆羚的毛皮摩擦使指甲发亮，并涂以散沫花汁使其呈现迷人的艳红。在一次考古中有人曾在埃及艳后的墓中发现了一个化妆盒，里面记载着：涂上“处女指甲油”为通向西方极乐世界之用。 在我国唐朝时期，就已经出现染甲的风尚，所用的材料是凤仙花。做法是取腐蚀性较强的凤仙花的花和叶放在小钵中捣碎，加少量明矾，便可以用来浸染指甲。也可将丝棉捏成与指甲一样的薄片，放入花汁，等到吸入水分后取出，放在指甲表面，经过连续浸染三到五次，数月都不会褪色。美甲不仅是美丽的标志，还是地位的象征，中国古代官员还用装饰性的金属假指甲增加指甲长度，显示尊贵地位。 英国皇室贵族和中国的清朝皇室都有留甲的传统，保留洁白的指甲表示不必辛苦的工作，象征了地位和权利。拥有一双修长、华丽指甲的人多半属于上流社会的阶层。 无论是哪个民族、种族，对美的向往和崇敬之心都是相同的。在不断的追求中技法和方式在不段的更新，现在的美甲材料也更加的健康、环保，满足不同人群的美的需求。
