溪居
柳宗元
久为簪组束,幸此南夷谪。
闲依农圃邻,偶似山林客。
晓耕翻露草,夜榜响溪石。
来往不逢人,长歌楚天碧。
Dwelling by a Stream
Liu Zongyuan
Loosened by luck from long-term fetter of court dress,
I’m now banished to the southland of wilderness .
When free, I will be in plot farmer’s neighbourhood;
Haply I roam ’bout hills like a man of the wood.
At dawn, I turn o’er dewy weeds the land to till;
At dusk, my boat clashes ’gainst pebbles of the rill.
No passer-by have I met in my come-and-go;
Long have I sung under Chu skies looking blue so.
