Sacrificing to Confucius and Mourning Him When
Passing through Lu
Li Longji
For what indeed, my Master, did you strive
So hard and unceasingly all your life?
This place belongs to Zou Shire as in old days;
From this house Duke Lu a palace did raise.
The long absence of phoenix made you sigh
For adversities wherein you would lie;
At the ominous death of unicorn,
For the ending of your doctrines you’d mourn.
Offerings placed between two columns today
Must be like those in your dream you did say.
