Ascending the Wugong Terrace in Autumn for a Distant View
Ascending the Wugong Terrace in Autumn for a
Distant View
Liu Changqing
In autumn, on the ruined ancient terrace I stand
With a feeling of homesickness I can’t withstand.
The forlorn temple here few men come to visit;
On the other bank, looms a mount’s cloud-clad summit.
To the decayed ramparts the setting sunlight clings;
With the qing’s chilling sound the wood of bare trees rings.
Gone are tragic legends of the Southern Dynasties,
But the Long River alone flows on to these days.
