Fallen Flowers
Li Shangyin
My guests in the high tower have left me at last;
The flowers in the small garden fall thick and fast.
They swirl pellmell and to tortuous paths swiftly run
As far as if they would see off the setting sun.
Heartbroken, I cannot bear to sweep them away;
Still my strained eyes find few of them will there stay.
My heart comes to a standstill to see them gone with spring.
Clothes soaked with my tears are all they to me bring.
