可见，文本的格式定位是整个文本的一个相当重要的部分。对于不少文本而言，只要其格式定位后，也就是说只要写作者明确该文本的格式后，该篇文本的基本结构也就自然清晰了。更有突出的情况是，在有些英语文本的生成上，文本的格式结构起到了决定性的作用，甚至可以这么说，文本的生成纯粹就是生成一个文本的格式结构，这类文本可以被称为格式文本，如英语书信信封、某些证书证件、正式请柬、某些体裁的英语诗歌等等。相反，如果一个英语写作者弄不清楚一篇特定英语文本的格式，他是没法恰当完成相应的英语文本的写作的。不知道或不熟悉英语文本格式的英语写作者始终是一个英语写作的门外汉。正因为如此，并得益于当今的方便电脑文字处理和印刷技术，我们不少的实用文本都有了现成的文本格式，如有些工作报告、演讲稿、商务信件、合同等。

六、英语语篇文本的信息结构图式及技术
英语文本的写作，除了可以通过文本的展开方式和格式进行定位外，还可以通过其基本信息结构进行定位。正如本书前面所提到的，所有实体文本都具有格式、展开方式和信息三个方面的基本文本属性。信息实际上是所有文本产生和存在的基础，换言之，任何文本都在于要表达一定的思想内容。因此，通过文本所要表达的思想内容，即文本的信息结构对文本进行定位自然成了一条有效的文本定位途径。
一方面，每一篇文本，无论是说明文，还是议论文、记叙文或描写文，都具有一定的信息结构。为节省篇幅，下面拟随意从英语语篇文本中抽取一篇议论文作文和一篇描写文的语篇文本来分析其文本信息结构。

Being a good citizen
When you are born into a country and become its citizen， the government gives you many rights.In our country， you are antitled to receive education；you enjoy considerable political and religious freedom； you also have the right to marry who you love， not all of which are possible in any country.Because the government gives you rights， you have the duty to be good citizens.But， what does it mean to be a good citizen？ How can you be a partt of giving back for the rights and freedom you enjoy？ The answer may vary from person to person， but in my opinion， the essential ingredients of good citizenship are loving your country， obeying the laws， and taking part in communities.
First， being a good means you show your love to your country.You do not have to join the arm to prove that.You can do this by being courteous to the symbols of the country.Singing our National Anthem and respecting our flag are also simple ways to show how much the country means to you.More importantly， you defend your country by committing yourself to your job and contributing to its growth.As the American statesman Adlai E.Stevenson put it，"Patriotism is not a short and frenzied outburst of emotion but the tranquil and steady dedication of a lifetime."
Second， being a good citizen also means obeying the laws in your communities.We are all members of many communities， for example， we are part of a neighborhood， town， and school.Every community has laws and rules： drivers must stop at red traffic lights； people must pay their bills on time； children must raise their hand before speaking in class.Rules and laws are important， as they are made to keep you safe and help you live better， and obeying them also shows your respect for others.It is disturbing to think of what would happen if communities did not have them.
Third， being good citizens means getting involved in your communities.Children， teenagers， adults， and seniors-all of us have a part in bettering our communities.Children could help clean up trash in the neighborhood.Teenagers could do chores for an elderly neighbor.Adults could coach a kids'soccer team.Seniors can make a meal for a family who is going through difficult times.Good citizens help whatever and whenever they can， and they make great communities.
Being a good citizen， you need to understand you have a responsibility to your country.You are obliged to make the community， city and nation a better place by working together with others.
