杜甫
昔闻洞庭水，今上岳阳楼。
吴楚东南坼，乾坤日夜浮。
亲朋无一字，老病有孤舟。
戎马关山北，凭轩涕泗流。

I heard of the famous Dongting Lake long ago，
Now to see it from the Yueyang Tower I’m glad so.
Eastern Wu and southern Chu were separated here；
Day and night， the sun and moon drift off and appear.
I haven’t heard from my kinsmen and friends to this day；
Old and sick， long in my lonely boat I’ve to stay.
War flames on the Northern Frontier are on the rise；
I lean against the rails with tears flowing from my eyes.
